Η Αλθαία Ρίζα (Althaea officinalis), γνωστή και ως Δενδρομολόχα ή Νερομολόχα, είναι ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά μαλακτικά και επουλωτικά βότανα για τους βλεννογόνους του οργανισμού. Χρησιμοποιείται παραδοσιακά για τη φροντίδα του πεπτικού, του αναπνευστικού και του ουροποιητικού συστήματος, χάρη στην υψηλή περιεκτικότητά της σε βλέννες (mucilage) που προστατεύουν και καταπραΰνουν τους ερεθισμένους ιστούς.
Η ρίζα της Αλθαίας παρουσιάζει αντιφλεγμονώδη, αντιόξινη και ήπια υπακτική δράση, συμβάλλοντας στην ανακούφιση από παθήσεις όπως οισοφαγίτιδα, γαστροοισοφαγική παλινδρόμηση, εντερίτιδα, γαστρίτιδα, έλκος του πεπτικού και διαφραγματοκήλη.
